Rehabilitation & Environmental Cleanup of Alfasher Teaching Hospital

In collaboration with various stakeholders, including youth initiatives, and in partnership with the Sudanese Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development, DOFDAHR initiated a comprehensive project to rehabilitate the intensive care unit and environmentally clean El-Fasher Teaching Hospital. The rehabilitation efforts extended to El-Fasher Teaching Hospital’s intensive care unit, focusing on waste removal, landscaping, and overall cleaning. The second phase of the project saw the completion of the environmental cleanup and the maintenance of the intensive care unit, including the construction of the western wall. An evaluation meeting held on October 5, 2022, brought together representatives from DOFDAHR, youth initiatives, relevant ministries, and the High Council for Environment and Natural Resources. The meeting aimed to assess progress and coordinate further actions. The sustained environmental cleanup campaign continued for the third consecutive week, emphasizing the significance of community participation in maintaining the hospital’s environmental hygiene. The project received positive attention after media coverage by Al Jazeera, highlighting the collaboration between DOFDAHR and the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, as well as youth initiatives in maintaining and rehabilitating the intensive care ward at El-Fasher Teaching Hospital. DOFDAHR received a commendation from the Environmental Cleanup Initiative

Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources received commendation from the Environmental Cleanup Initiative under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development for its outstanding contribution to the initiative. The recognition ceremony, presided over by the Director-General of the Ministry, Engineer Al-Mahi Al-Sheikh, witnessed the presence of organization member and founder, the Executive Director of the Graduate Employment Agency, Mr. Mohammed Abdelqader Jallab, and the organization’s director, Mr. Bahaa Al-Din Bushara, among other dignitaries from the Ministry and volunteers from both the organization and the initiative. The honor extended to the organization was represented by volunteer Taysir Idris Ahmed Mohamed, acknowledging her significant role in the initiative. The event showcased the collaborative efforts between the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources and governmental bodies in promoting environmental well-being.

Fostering Youth Engagement: DofDahr meeting with the youth of Al-Wafaq neighborhood

In its ongoing commitment to engaging with youth initiatives and addressing youth issues in the region, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources recently convened a meeting with the youth of Al-Wafaq neighborhood. Hosted at Al-Wafaq Square, the meeting delved into various crucial topics, including the priorities and needs of the youth. Emphasis was placed on encouraging youth participation in awareness initiatives and educational activities. Training on Human Rights Incident Monitoring and PESA Policy

The Protection and Human Rights Department of the organization recently conducted a mini-training course for the staff, focusing on the Human Rights Incident Monitoring Analysis Tool (HIMAT) and the PESA (Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse) policy of the DOFDAHR organization. The training session was led by Ms. Rabia Abdul Rahman Ali Dahab, the head of the Protection and Human Rights Office within the organization. The course aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the organization’s team members in effectively utilizing HIMAT and understanding the nuances of the PESA policy. Through this training, participants gained valuable insights into human rights incident monitoring and analysis, utilizing HIMAT as a powerful tool for such purposes. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse policy was provided, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the organization. The Risks of Infectious Diseases – Awareness Session at Al-Salam Camp, Abuja

As part of its community awareness programs, and under the theme “Together for a Healthy and Safe Society,” the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization (DOFDAHR) collaborated with the African Vision Organization for Development. The event, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in North Darfur State, aimed to raise awareness within the Al-Salam Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Fasher (Abuja). The session was designed to educate communities about the risks of infectious diseases and preventive measures to enhance public health in the state. The awareness campaign covered infectious diseases such as Hepatitis, Dengue Fever, Malaria, and the Coronavirus. Additionally, the community was informed about the risks associated with certain chemical residues and carcinogenic materials looted from global food stores and UNAMID (United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur) premises during recent unfortunate events in the state. The community was educated on the dangers of these materials to human health and the environment, emphasizing the importance of proper disposal by relevant authorities and immediate reporting to the appropriate channels. The awareness campaigns are set to continue throughout January and February of this year, reaching various residential areas, markets, and schools for broader impact. #Transition_Begins_with_Awareness #DOFDAHR

Health Awareness Campaigns in Al Fasher locality

In the period from December 16 – 21, 2021, under the slogan: ‘Together for a healthy society’, The Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and partnership with the African Vision for Development Organization (OVDA), organized a health awareness campaign to prevent infectious diseases (hepatitis, COVID-19, dengue fever and malaria) in Zamzam IDPs camp, Abuja IDPs and Um Shujaira neighborhood in El Fasher locality. The campaign reached 460 awareness messages in 2 sessions. Moreover, DOFDAHR organized awareness campaigns on the dangers of some chemical waste and contaminants that were looted from WFP stores and UNAMID headquarters because of the recent robbery incidences that occurred in the state.

GBV awareness

As part of its programs in enhancing community awareness, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR), in partnership and fund from Plan Sudan International, organized 2 awareness sessions on prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and preventing sexual abuse and exploitation of children in Abu Shouk IDPs camp in El Fasher city.

Civic education awareness session for policemen in the state

On 7/4/2021, DOFDAHR organized an awareness session for policemen by conducting a lecture on the role of the police in the context of a civil government in Sudan. The session was attended by 40 policemen from different sections of police: Traffic police, migratory and passport police, civil registry, civil protection, prison police, wildlife police, and tourism police. The session opened with the presence of the State Director of Police. The session focused on the importance of the police in the civil government as it is the mechanism for the application of laws. The lecture also corrected the notion that civil government is against the military government, the lecture emphasized that the basis of the civil government is the prevalence of the rule of law, and it is the core duty of the police.

Reconciliation Session between the traditional leaders and resistance and change committees in Shag Al-Shehait rural area in Al-Fashir locality

DOFDAHR find out about the conflict during a joint need assessment and conducted a reconciliation session between traditional leaders and the newly formed resistance and change committees in Shag al-Shehait rural area in the Al-Fashir locality. DOFDAHR played the role of a mediator to bring together the two groups to an agreement to work together to serve the community. After conducting the reconciliation session in the village in the open air, the two parties agreed to work together through sharing responsibilities and roles in the village. DOFDAHR stressed the importance of the agreement between the two parties to work together for the development of the area.
