Training Workshop on Humanitarian Principles and Community Peacebuilding in El Fasher

As part of the activities to enhance the capabilities of emergency rooms to respond to the crisis and methodologies for community peacebuilding in El Fasher, the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization organized a training workshop for thirty members of active rooms and initiatives. The training workshop covered the principles of humanitarian work in emergencies, and the activities to enhance the capabilities of emergency rooms in the state will continue.

Workshop on Combating Identity-Based Violence in El Fasher

Today, Wednesday, a workshop on combating identity-based violence was launched at the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources hall in the city of El Fasher. The workshop brought together representatives from shelters, civil society organizations, media, activists, and volunteers in the community. Mujahid Saleh Adam, a representative of the Darfur Organization, explained that the workshop was organized based on recommendations and outcomes from a recent workshop held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. He emphasized its importance for the community in fighting identity-based violence to maintain social cohesion and strengthen social fabric. Dr. Imad al-Din Ahmed Salem, a lecturer at the University of El Fasher, delivered a lecture on community organization and its impact on social peace according to the functionalist theory that regulates society. The lecture also covered the steps of community organization, including research, planning, and coordination. Another lecture addressed the dangers of hate speech towards society. Campaign: 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

The Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) is actively participating in the global campaign, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Training on Human Rights Incident Monitoring and PESA Policy

The Protection and Human Rights Department of the organization recently conducted a mini-training course for the staff, focusing on the Human Rights Incident Monitoring Analysis Tool (HIMAT) and the PESA (Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse) policy of the DOFDAHR organization. The training session was led by Ms. Rabia Abdul Rahman Ali Dahab, the head of the Protection and Human Rights Office within the organization. The course aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the organization’s team members in effectively utilizing HIMAT and understanding the nuances of the PESA policy. Through this training, participants gained valuable insights into human rights incident monitoring and analysis, utilizing HIMAT as a powerful tool for such purposes. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse policy was provided, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the organization. The organization remains committed to upholding human rights standards and fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being and protection of its members.

As part of its programs in enhancing community awareness, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR), in partnership and fund from Plan Sudan International, organized 2 awareness sessions on prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and preventing sexual abuse and exploitation of children in Abu Shouk IDPs camp in El Fasher city.

Meeting with the Director of Police, North Darfur – Humanitarian Initiatives for Vulnerable Children

As part of its earnest efforts to serve the people of the state, particularly the vulnerable segments of society, a representative from the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources held a meeting with the Director of Police for North Darfur State. Mr. Abdullah Yaqoub Adam, the organization’s Project Manager, attended the meeting along with Mr. Mohamed Musdaq, the Head of the Childhood Department within the organization. The meeting was conducted in the presence of Police General Yahia Mohamed Ahmed Al-Noor. The discussion centered on ways to assist children lacking proper documentation in the displacement camps, particularly in obtaining birth certificates and national identification numbers. The collaboration with the Social Welfare Department was emphasized to facilitate the process. The initiative also aims to encourage families to adopt these children as a form of social solidarity, reducing the rates of homelessness and educational gaps in society. Police General Yahia Mohamed Ahmed Al-Noor welcomed the visit, expressing full support for initiatives that benefit vulnerable and undocumented segments of the population. He explained the required procedures for obtaining such documents and urged the removal of any obstacles to integrating these individuals into society. Following the meeting, the organization promptly initiated the registration and classification processes, coordinating with relevant authorities such as Social Welfare and the State Council for Childhood to implement the project. Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources appeals to all members of society to advocate for and support the adoption of undocumented children, facilitating their integration into families and the community. This initiative aims to provide a brighter future for these vulnerable individuals.
