Fifth Discussion Session on Memory and Transitional Justice in Kampala

Discussion Session | 5 As part of the project to enhance the capabilities of Sudanese in the diaspora to support peace efforts and post-war mechanisms, the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, with support from USAID Sudan, organized the fifth discussion session in Kampala, Uganda. The session included deep discussions on the concepts of memory, history, wounded memory, and collective memory and its role in transitional justice for nations. The session was attended by 21 young men and women representing 18 Sudanese states. This session is part of a series of activities aimed at empowering youth, providing them with tools for thinking, networking, and advocacy, and analyzing post-war mechanisms in Sudan. Fifth Civil Society Meeting in Kampala

Within the framework of the project to enhance the capabilities of Sudanese in the diaspora to support peace efforts and post-war mechanisms, the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, in cooperation with Binaa for Democracy & Development and with support from USAID Sudan, organized the fifth civil society meeting on Monday, January 20, 2025, in Kampala, Uganda. The session focused on the book “From Dictatorship to Democracy” by the American writer Gene Sharp, with the participation of 23 young men and women. The attendees discussed the main ideas of the book, focusing on strategies for peaceful change and principles of nonviolent struggle, aiming to enhance the roles of youth in processes of justice, transitional justice, and national reconciliation. This session is part of a series of activities aimed at empowering youth, providing them with critical thinking tools, and enhancing their effective contribution to building a sustainable future for post-war Sudan. Discussion Session in Kampala for Sudanese Diaspora Youth on “Education for the Future” to Enhance Justice and Reconciliation

Continuing to enhance the capacity of Sudanese in the diaspora to respond to peace efforts and strengthen post-war mechanisms, the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, with support from USAID Sudan, organized a discussion session in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, for 20 young men and women from Sudanese civil society organizations in the diaspora (#CSOs). The discussion centered around the book “Education for the Future” by Edgar Morin from the perspective of justice and reconciliation. These sessions focus on discussing books and applying them in contexts of justice, reconciliation, memory, forgiveness, and forgetting. Our thanks extend to Binaa for Democracy & Development for their collaboration in selecting participants and actively participating in these sessions.

Reconciliation Session between the traditional leaders and resistance and change committees in Shag Al-Shehait rural area in Al-Fashir locality

DOFDAHR find out about the conflict during a joint need assessment and conducted a reconciliation session between traditional leaders and the newly formed resistance and change committees in Shag al-Shehait rural area in the Al-Fashir locality. DOFDAHR played the role of a mediator to bring together the two groups to an agreement to work together to serve the community. After conducting the reconciliation session in the village in the open air, the two parties agreed to work together through sharing responsibilities and roles in the village. DOFDAHR stressed the importance of the agreement between the two parties to work together for the development of the area.

Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Higher Council for Culture and Media in North Darfur

Today, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Higher Council for Culture and Media in North Darfur State and the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources at the office of the Council’s president in the General Secretariat. The memorandum addresses the integrated roles of both the council and the organization in promoting a culture of peace through culture and media, reviving heritage and tourism in the state, and coordinating joint efforts in exchanging experiences and conducting collaborative field surveys. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Malik Dahab, the president of the Higher Council, on behalf of the council, and Mr. Baha Eldin Bashara, the director of the organization, on behalf of the organization.

Meeting on Cooperative Collaboration for Peacebuilding

This morning, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources, led by the organization’s president and members of the executive office, with the Voluntary Aid Organization and the Frang Charity for Development, along with the Hands for Development Association and the Voluntary Aid Initiative. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a memorandum of cooperation for joint efforts in the field of peacebuilding, promoting a culture of peace, and informing the community about the Juba Peace Agreement. The representatives of the mentioned organizations attended the meeting.
