Raising Awareness About the Dangerous Effects of Communicable Diseases in Alfasher IDP Shelters

In collaboration with the malaria department of the state, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources initiated a campaign to raise awareness about the risks of diseases in shelter centers in El Fasher. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing war, the organization remains committed to community awareness efforts, particularly focusing on the dangers of diseases in the shelters for displaced persons in El Fasher, North Darfur.

Seed of Good Initiative: Free Therapeutic Camp in Al-Salam Camp

In collaboration with the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization (DOFDAHR), the Seed of Good initiative at the University of Health Sciences organized an impactful free therapeutic camp in Al-Salam camp (Abuja). This noble initiative aimed to provide essential healthcare services to the community, particularly in a camp setting where access to medical facilities might be limited. The event was graced by the presence of Eng. Abdel-Baqi, the Director of Social Welfare in the Regional Government, attended as the representative of the Governor. Additionally, the Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Health Sciences actively participated in this humanitarian endeavor. Their presence highlights the significance of collaborative efforts between academic institutions, governmental bodies, and non-profit organizations in addressing healthcare needs in vulnerable communities. Dengue Fever Prevention Awareness Video

In the video, key messages include “Protect yourself and your family,” “Contribute to the fight against Dengue fever,” and “The fight begins in the larval stage.” Visual elements highlight specific actions, such as covering water containers, barrels, and ensuring the cleanliness of water basins. The campaign encourages individuals to actively participate in preventing the spread of Dengue fever by following these simple yet crucial steps. Through the engaging and informative video, DOFDAHR endeavors to reach a wider audience and instill a sense of responsibility in the community to collectively combat Dengue fever. Celebrating Global Handwashing Day Through School Awareness Activities

Rehabilitation & Environmental Cleanup of Alfasher Teaching Hospital

In collaboration with various stakeholders, including youth initiatives, and in partnership with the Sudanese Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development, DOFDAHR initiated a comprehensive project to rehabilitate the intensive care unit and environmentally clean El-Fasher Teaching Hospital. The rehabilitation efforts extended to El-Fasher Teaching Hospital’s intensive care unit, focusing on waste removal, landscaping, and overall cleaning. The second phase of the project saw the completion of the environmental cleanup and the maintenance of the intensive care unit, including the construction of the western wall. An evaluation meeting held on October 5, 2022, brought together representatives from DOFDAHR, youth initiatives, relevant ministries, and the High Council for Environment and Natural Resources. The meeting aimed to assess progress and coordinate further actions. The sustained environmental cleanup campaign continued for the third consecutive week, emphasizing the significance of community participation in maintaining the hospital’s environmental hygiene. The project received positive attention after media coverage by Al Jazeera, highlighting the collaboration between DOFDAHR and the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, as well as youth initiatives in maintaining and rehabilitating the intensive care ward at El-Fasher Teaching Hospital. These initiatives underscore DOFDAHR’s commitment to community development, environmental sustainability, and public health in the El-Fasher region. Training on Human Rights Incident Monitoring and PESA Policy

The Protection and Human Rights Department of the organization recently conducted a mini-training course for the staff, focusing on the Human Rights Incident Monitoring Analysis Tool (HIMAT) and the PESA (Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse) policy of the DOFDAHR organization. The training session was led by Ms. Rabia Abdul Rahman Ali Dahab, the head of the Protection and Human Rights Office within the organization. The course aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of the organization’s team members in effectively utilizing HIMAT and understanding the nuances of the PESA policy. Through this training, participants gained valuable insights into human rights incident monitoring and analysis, utilizing HIMAT as a powerful tool for such purposes. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s Protection from Exploitation and Sexual Abuse policy was provided, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the organization. The organization remains committed to upholding human rights standards and fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being and protection of its members.

The Risks of Infectious Diseases – Awareness Session at Al-Salam Camp, Abuja

As part of its community awareness programs, and under the theme “Together for a Healthy and Safe Society,” the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization (DOFDAHR) collaborated with the African Vision Organization for Development. The event, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in North Darfur State, aimed to raise awareness within the Al-Salam Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Fasher (Abuja). The session was designed to educate communities about the risks of infectious diseases and preventive measures to enhance public health in the state. The awareness campaign covered infectious diseases such as Hepatitis, Dengue Fever, Malaria, and the Coronavirus. Additionally, the community was informed about the risks associated with certain chemical residues and carcinogenic materials looted from global food stores and UNAMID (United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur) premises during recent unfortunate events in the state. The community was educated on the dangers of these materials to human health and the environment, emphasizing the importance of proper disposal by relevant authorities and immediate reporting to the appropriate channels. The awareness campaigns are set to continue throughout January and February of this year, reaching various residential areas, markets, and schools for broader impact. #Transition_Begins_with_Awareness #DOFDAHR
