DOFDAHR Concludes Grassroots Strategic Planning Workshop in Uganda

Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) has successfully concluded a specialized Grassroots Strategic Planning Workshop, with the participation of DOFDAHR office managers alongside representatives from youth-led, national, and community-based organizations. The workshop was implemented with the support from Norwegian People’s Aid, reinforcing a partnership-driven and collective learning approach that promotes inclusive participation in shaping community-rooted visions and strategies. The workshop was held at Jinja Resort in Kampala, Uganda, from 28 December 2025 to 2 January 2026, and focused on strengthening community-centered planning skills and enhancing institutional capacity, contributing to more effective and responsive humanitarian and development programming. In addition, the workshop integrated psychosocial support and recreational activities, underscoring the importance of staff well-being and resilience as a foundation for sustainable humanitarian engagement. Reaffirming its ongoing community-centered role and commitment to inclusive and meaningful participation, DOFDAHR plans to continue this capacity-strengthening journey by organizing a follow-up workshop on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). This upcoming initiative aims to enhance program quality, strengthen accountability, and ensure deeper and more sustainable humanitarian and development impact within affected communities.

DOFDAHR Strengthens Institutional Capacity Through Strategic Planning Workshop in Uganda

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional performance and build staff capacities, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) organized a specialized workshop on Grassroots Strategic Planning in Kampala, Uganda. The five-day workshop was held from 28 December 2025 to 2 January 2026, bringing together DOFDAHR office managers alongside representatives of active national youth organizations. The training was facilitated by expert Dr. Mahjoub Salim and focused on practical tools and participatory approaches to strategic planning that respond effectively to community needs and priorities. This initiative comes within DOFDAHR’s broader strategy to invest in human capital, enhance institutional capacities, strengthen coordination among national organizations, and achieve more sustainable humanitarian and development impact in the communities it serves.

DOFDAHR Conducts Peacebuilding and Civic Education Workshops to Empower Sudanese Youth

As part of its efforts to promote sustainable peace and strengthen civic awareness, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) implemented a series of training workshops under the Comprehensive Peacebuilding and Civic Education in Sudan project, targeting youth and young leaders from inside and outside Sudan. The activities included the first workshop, “Civic Education – Towards Active Citizenship,” held on 20 December 2024, with the participation of 45 young women and men from different states and regions. The workshop addressed key concepts of citizenship, community dialogue, civic participation, and the role of youth in contributing to the building of a democratic society based on rights and responsibilities. The second workshop, “Dealing with the Past to Build the Future,” was conducted on 22 December 2024 and brought together 75 young leaders from within Sudan and the diaspora. Discussions focused on community reconciliation, transitional justice, conflict transformation, and the development of shared narratives that strengthen social cohesion and open pathways toward a peaceful future. These activities reflect the conviction that peace cannot be achieved through slogans alone, but through learning, dialogue, and a deep understanding of the root causes of conflict. The active engagement and positive interaction of participants demonstrated the readiness of Sudanese youth to play a central role in leading peacebuilding efforts and driving positive change. The Comprehensive Peacebuilding and Civic Education in Sudan project aims to empower Sudanese youth to become active agents in promoting peace and social cohesion through innovative dialogue initiatives and digital platforms that foster discussions on peace, conflict resolution, and social justice, with a strong focus on the inclusion of marginalized groups and ensuring diverse and meaningful participation.

DOFDAHR Announces Open Registration for “The Knowledge Nexus” Youth Empowerment Project

Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) announces the opening of registration for participation in The Knowledge Nexus, a digital and community-based project aimed at empowering Sudanese youth in conflict-affected areas and marginalized communities, including Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile, and displaced communities in Uganda. The project focuses on strengthening youth capacities in peacebuilding, transitional justice, civic education, and community dialogue and psychosocial resilience, contributing to social cohesion and inclusive peacebuilding efforts. Capacity Building for Sudanese Diaspora: Civic Education Training in Kampala.

With the participation of 40 young men and women representing 18 Sudanese states, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) on civic education in Kampala this week. Funded by USAID Sudan, the training aimed to enhance the capacity of Sudanese in the diaspora for advocating, networking, and supporting peace efforts in Sudan.

Civic education awareness session for policemen in the state

On 7/4/2021, DOFDAHR organized an awareness session for policemen by conducting a lecture on the role of the police in the context of a civil government in Sudan. The session was attended by 40 policemen from different sections of police: Traffic police, migratory and passport police, civil registry, civil protection, prison police, wildlife police, and tourism police. The session opened with the presence of the State Director of Police. The session focused on the importance of the police in the civil government as it is the mechanism for the application of laws. The lecture also corrected the notion that civil government is against the military government, the lecture emphasized that the basis of the civil government is the prevalence of the rule of law, and it is the core duty of the police.

Civic education session in 6 secondary schools in Al-Fashir

With funds and partnership with USAID, DOFDAHR implemented civic education in six secondary schools in Al-Fasher city in the period from 8/3/2021 to 18/3/2021. The activity is part of the USAID project “Toward Enduring Peace in Sudan (TEPS)”. This activity was proposed by DOFDAHR after the February demonstrations in Al-Fasher that resulted in the damage of many public buildings by the demonstrators. The objectives of this activity are the awareness of the community of the importance of the protection of public buildings for the benefit of all community members and teaching for peaceful demonstration and peaceful demand of rights. Raising awareness of the community of their roles, rights, and duties under the context of civil rule country. Also, the awareness session in the six schools highlighted the issues of patriotism, citizenship, diversity management, the importance of peaceful co-existence between different ethnic groups. Volunteers from DOFDAHR health promotion sessions on keeping a healthy school environment and personal hygiene. The awareness sessions are accompanied by music bands from the students to display the different traditional cultures of different ethnic groups in Darfur. In all the schools reached, awareness sessions were conducted on COVID-19, and face masks and sanitizers were distributed to all the students in the six schools (4,900 students). The school reached for civic education awareness and COVID-19 sessions are: The closing ceremony for the civic education sessions: DIFDAHR conducted a closing ceremony at the end of the civic education training sessions. The ceremony was conducted at Al-Manar Secondary School for Girls. The closing ceremony was attended by the Manager of the project “Toward Enduring Peace in Sudan (TEPS) and attended by the State Director of Secondary School Education, the representative of the State Governor (Wali), the State Medea Director, the Director of the Graduates Employment Fund. The closing ceremony contained a lecture on patriotism and civic education for school students. Music bands from Al-Fasher Secondary School for Girls, Eastern Secondary School for Girls, Al-Manar Secondary School for Girls, and the music band of Darfur Secondary School for Boys. Also, the closing ceremony was attended by all headmasters of the secondary schools that participated in the civic education program and representatives of the neighboring schools such as Al-Mustagbal Secondary School in Al-Nasr block. 1,500 participants attended the closing ceremony including students, teachers, and guests. COVID-19 awareness was carried out, and 1,600 face masks and sanitizers were distributed to the participants.

Civic Education for CBOs in Al-Fasher

On 20/2/2021, DOFDAHR organized a Civic Education forum for Community-Based Organizations, politicians, resistance committee members, and women and youth representatives. The forum discussed the concept of local government, its justification, and properties, as well as, a discussion of the Sudan laws on local government. The forum was the first of its type in the state and lasted from 12 PM to 4:30 PM.
