As part of the Emergency Assistance Project for IDPs and Host Communities aimed at combating cholera and promoting health and hygiene awareness, and with the support from IOM Sudan, the Darfur Organization for Development and Human Resources (DOFDAHR) continued its field awareness activities throughout October 2025 in Shokshoko North, Tawila locality, North Darfur State.
During this month, the first field team conducted the third community awareness session, targeting male participants aged between 65 and 85 years.Results from the knowledge assessment indicated a 90% increase in awareness of cholera symptoms and prevention methods, while 80% of participants reported adopting positive health practices such as drinking safe water and seeking care at health facilities.
The practical evaluation also included demonstrations on the preparation of oral rehydration solution (ORS) and the use of chlorine, reflecting a significant improvement in participants’ hygiene practices and health knowledge.These activities are part of DOFDAHR’s ongoing efforts to support communities affected by cholera outbreaks, promoting collective action and behavioral change through continuous awareness and community mobilization campaigns.
