Rehabilitation & Environmental Cleanup of Alfasher Teaching Hospital

In collaboration with various stakeholders, including youth initiatives, and in partnership with the Sudanese Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development, DOFDAHR initiated a comprehensive project to rehabilitate the intensive care unit and environmentally clean El-Fasher Teaching Hospital.

The rehabilitation efforts extended to El-Fasher Teaching Hospital’s intensive care unit, focusing on waste removal, landscaping, and overall cleaning. The second phase of the project saw the completion of the environmental cleanup and the maintenance of the intensive care unit, including the construction of the western wall.

An evaluation meeting held on October 5, 2022, brought together representatives from DOFDAHR, youth initiatives, relevant ministries, and the High Council for Environment and Natural Resources. The meeting aimed to assess progress and coordinate further actions. The sustained environmental cleanup campaign continued for the third consecutive week, emphasizing the significance of community participation in maintaining the hospital’s environmental hygiene. The project received positive attention after media coverage by Al Jazeera, highlighting the collaboration between DOFDAHR and the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization, as well as youth initiatives in maintaining and rehabilitating the intensive care ward at El-Fasher Teaching Hospital.
