The Risks of Infectious Diseases – Awareness Session at Al-Salam Camp, Abuja

As part of its community awareness programs, and under the theme “Together for a Healthy and Safe Society,” the Darfur Development and Human Resources Organization (DOFDAHR) collaborated with the African Vision Organization for Development. The event, held in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in North Darfur State, aimed to raise awareness within the Al-Salam Camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Fasher (Abuja).

The session was designed to educate communities about the risks of infectious diseases and preventive measures to enhance public health in the state. The awareness campaign covered infectious diseases such as Hepatitis, Dengue Fever, Malaria, and the Coronavirus. Additionally, the community was informed about the risks associated with certain chemical residues and carcinogenic materials looted from global food stores and UNAMID (United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur) premises during recent unfortunate events in the state.

The community was educated on the dangers of these materials to human health and the environment, emphasizing the importance of proper disposal by relevant authorities and immediate reporting to the appropriate channels. The awareness campaigns are set to continue throughout January and February of this year, reaching various residential areas, markets, and schools for broader impact.
